Expert Panel to discuss findings and recommend solutions on 17 July.
More than 4,000 WSAVA members completed an online survey into veterinary wellness created by our Professional Wellness Group (PWG). The results offer a unique insight into the issues and challenges around wellness in the veterinary professional globally.
Following a preview of the initial findings to Member Representatives during this year’s Members’ Forum, PWG Co-Chair Dr Nienke Endenburg will present them to delegates and media at a special lecture called ‘Shaping the Future: Wellness in the Veterinary Profession’ on 17 July. The findings and potential solutions will then be discussed by an expert panel.
Dr Endenburg, a human psychologist, says: “Veterinarians care for our animal companions but the question is, who is caring for them? As a global community we wanted to gain a clear understanding of the challenges to well-being faced by our members around the world and to find out both what they have in common and where their experience differs.
We thank everyone who completed the survey and look forward to sharing the results, first with Member Representatives and then with the wider veterinary community. They are an important first step to helping us tackle this important issue.”
