The WSAVA Global Pain Council
(GPC) is creating an empowered, motivated and globally unified veterinary profession that effectively recognizes and minimizes pain prevalence and impact. We are delighted to welcome two new members to the team. They are:
Dr Beatriz Monteiro
Beatriz graduated from Sao Paulo State University (Unesp - Botucatu) and completed two internships at the University of Guelph. She is in the final year of a PhD program at the University of Montreal as a Vanier Canada Graduate Scholar. Her research focuses on the assessment and treatment of pain in dogs and cats. As a member of the GPC she hopes to advance pain management and promote animal welfare worldwide.
Dr Jo Murrell
Jo is passionate about promoting best practice for pain management in animals and works at the University of Bristol, UK, as a Reader in Veterinary Anaesthesia. She contributes to the clinical anaesthesia service and carries out research relating to pain management in companion animals. She also teaches undergraduate veterinary and veterinary nursing students.
