Joyce Dao has recently joined the WSAVA Secretariat as our Finance Officer. For the last few months, she has been getting up to speed by working alongside June Ingwersen and she takes over fully from January 2019 following June’s retirement. Joyce holds a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and graduated in 2008 from Brock University in Canada. She is a finance professional and runs her own business working with not-for-profit organizations. She lives in Milton, Ontario, Canada.
What attracted you to this role with the WSAVA?
I am excited about the international focus of the WSAVA and am looking forward to supporting veterinarians to develop their knowledge in order to provide an even higher level of care to their patients. I have already had the opportunity of working with some amazing and dedicated WSAVA volunteers from all over the world and am learning how passionate they are about their profession and the WSAVA.
What do you think will be most challenging about the role?
As a new starter, it is a challenge to replace June who ran the WSAVA’s Secretariat single-handedly for so long. However, I hope, in time, I will do a great job, just as she did.
What do you like to do when you are not working?
I like to spend time with my husband and two kids. I also like to travel and understand different cultures specifically through food. Recently I started to be more active again and joined a CrossFit gym.
