Check out the proceedings of a symposium hosted jointly by our One Health Committee and the CDC!
In November 2016, our One Health Committee hosted a symposium entitled ‘Preventing Obesity in People and their Pets: A One Health Approach,’ in collaboration with the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The symposium took place in Atlanta, Georgia and was chaired by Professor Michael Day, Chair of the One Health Committee.
It saw speakers from human and veterinary medicine confirm the importance of the One Health approach in the control and prevention in obesity in people and their companion animals and call for the direct input of One Health proponents into the shaping of future public policy in this area.
An editorial and three review papers presenting the key outcomes from the symposium have been published as open-access manuscripts in the Journal of Comparative Pathology.
