Help us to improve the well-being of our colleagues

Published: 5/1/2018

Please contribute to our new Professional Wellness Group! Hardly a week goes by without another report of harassment or abuse of a veterinary professional or – even worse – the suicide of a member of our profession. It is one of the most important challenges we face and we must tackle it now.

For this reason, we have created a new WSAVA Professional Wellness Group (PWG). It will explore the issues that adversely affect veterinary mental health and wellbeing, as well as geographic prevalence, cultural and societal norms and levels of awareness of the issue around the world.

The PWG is chaired by Dr Nienke Endenburg, a human psychologist working at the Veterinary School at the University of Utrecht in Holland. WSAVA President-Elect Dr Shane Ryan is Executive Board Liaison.  Nienke is recruiting WSAVA members to join the Group prior to its formal launch during #WSAVA2018 in Singapore.

If you have suggestions or ideas that you would like the PWG to consider, please contact us as we want to ensure that it represents the views of our members around the world. This is your opportunity to help improve the wellbeing of your colleagues globally and we would love to hear from you.
