Event summary: We are organizing a 2-day workshop, focussing on veterinary anethesia & analgesia and veterinary forensics in collaboration with the Ontario Shelter Medicine Association and the Toronto Humane Society
Event details: A two-day workshop will be held on July 20th & 21st 2019 in Toronto, Canada directly following the WSAVA World Congress 2019. This workshop is for shelter veterinarians, staff and animal control officers and will focus on veterinary anethesia & analgesia and veterinary forensics. Dr. Sheilah Robertson and Dr. Melinda Merck, leading experts in these fields will lead this workshop, in collaboration with the Ontario Shelter Medicine Association and the Toronto Humane Society

July 20th: Anesthesia & Analgesia - Dr. Sheilah Robertson

  • Pain and suffering
  • “Meowch” - acute pain in cats
  • How do we know they hurt? assessing acute pain in dogs
  • Anaesthesia and analgesia in shelters
  • Pediatric anesthesia and analgesia
  • Euthanasia: Humane and Human Considerations

July 21st: Veterinary Forensics - Dr. Melinda Merck

  • Suspicious Indicators and Common Findings of Abuse
  • Analysis of Patterned Injuries
  • Analysis of Video Evidence: An Important Role for the Veterinarian
  • Speaking for the Animal: Articulating Suffering in Legal Cases
  • Veterinary Forensics Case Studies

One Day:   OSMA members: $60; Non-members $75;
Both Days: OSMA members: $105; Non-members $135
