WSAVA Animal Wellness and Welfare Committee (AWWC) – Call for Members

Published: 11/13/2019

If you share our passion for animal welfare, get involved!

The AWWC is making welfare issues an everyday consideration for small animal practitioners and ensuring that we are a proactive and respected partner within international welfare circles by combining advocacy with mutual respect and consensus-building amongst partners. The dedicated AWWC  team is looking for two Committee members to join them during #WSAVA2020 in Warsaw, Poland in September 2020.  You can find out more about the skills and experience they are looking for and the application process here.

It’s a great opportunity to influence our work in this important area and to make a positive difference to animal welfare globally.  Could you be one of them?

NOW AVAILABLE: Executive Summary of the WSAVA Animal Welfare Guidelines

The AWWC launched its Global Guidelines on Animal Welfare in 2018.  They aim to bridge differing perceptions of welfare around the world and help veterinarians to tackle the ethical questions and moral issues which impact welfare.

They also offer guidance to ensure that, in addition to providing physical health advice and therapy to their patients, veterinarians can advocate for their psychological, social and environmental wellbeing.

The Committee has just produced an Executive Summary of the Guidelines to offer an overview in a concise and easy-to-digest format.
The work of the AWWC is generously supported by Mars Petcare and Purina Institute.
