Check out the new podcast series from WSAVA Animal Wellness and Welfare Committee (AWWC)

The first in the ‘Sentient Beings’ series is now available.

Podcasts have exploded in popularity because they fit so easily into our daily routine and are great for a quick listen when you’re on the way to work or have some downtime at home.  If you have an interest in animal welfare science, then we have the perfect podcast series for you!

The first podcast in the AWWC’s new Sentient Beings first series has just been launched.  It features Professor Donald Broom from Cambridge University, UK: Dr Rebeca Garcia Pinillos, a UK-based animal welfare specialist and Kenya Veterinary Board chairperson Dr Christopher Wanga.

Topics discussed during the series include:

  • Sentience
  • Measuring welfare
  • How animal welfare influences society
  • The role of the veterinarian and government in animal welfare
  • Tips to enhance welfare

Future podcast participants include animal welfare heroes from around the world such as Professor Natalie Waran from New Zealand; Professor Michael Appleby from the UK; Dr Nalinika from Sri Lanka; Dr Birte Nielsen from France; Dr Peter Thornber from Australia and Dr Jalil-Abdul Mohammadzai from Afghanistan.
 


The AWWC will be releasing a new podcast once a month for the next five months to complete the first series.
