The Purina Institute promotes global collaboration and knowledge exchange with veterinary and scientific thought leaders about proven nutritional science so that pets may live better, longer lives.

Representing an extensive global R&D organization made up of more than 500 scientists and pet care experts, the Purina Institute has access to a worldwide network of resources who are responsible for developing groundbreaking science. As the voice of Purina’s science, the Purina Institute shares nutritional discoveries in key areas at the forefront of Purina’s research while leveraging expertise from Nestlé, the world’s largest food and nutrition research organization.

With science at the forefront, the Purina Institute has a goal of helping to make nutrition a foundational element of conversations veterinarians have with pet owners. Examples of how the Purina Institute will do this includes:

  • Showcasing objective, fact-based information sourced from the wider scientific community on current trending topics across pet and human nutrition
  • Supporting key World Small Animal Veterinary Association (WSAVA) clinical committees as WSAVA’s first Diamond Partner
  • Partnering with the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (ACVIM) and the European College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (ECVIM-CA) to fund Resident Research Grants focused on companion animals.
  • Expanding on the 100+ existing global partnerships Purina R&D has by regularly convening roundtables to elevate the voice of thought leaders on the latest advancements in pet nutrition, health and wellness at the Institute’s Conference and Education Facility in St. Louis, Missouri, U.S.
  • Hosting the Companion Animal Nutrition (CAN) Summit, continuing Purina’s decades’ long legacy of bringing together veterinary thought leaders from across the globe.
