The American College of Veterinary Ophthalmologist’s 48th Annual Scientific Conference and tradeshow will take place in Baltimore, Maryland, October 11-14, 2017. The ACVO Conference is the largest veterinary ophthalmology educational meeting in the world. Researchers and clinical practitioners from over 30 countries convene to share information, while earning on average 17-22 hours of qualified continuing education. The conference offers over 170 abstract presentations in both presentation and poster formats, a keynote speaker, a residents’ workshop and manuscript competition, 8-hour general practitioner’s course (available separately) and master’s level course on Ocular Oncology for Diplomates of the College and residents on Sunday. This year’s conference will also host an Ocular Photography Contest and special sessions on Ocular Surface Disease and the Vitreous Society. Between 650-750 veterinarians and specialists, additionally 150 technicians, 100 vendors and 50 guests attend annually. The program is laced with opportunities to network including a meeting for those interested in learning about residencies, sub-specialty areas of interest, a well-attended welcome reception and a fabulous dinner or reception event, hosted by ACVO or its Foundation, the ACVO Vision for Animals Foundation. Students, interns and residents are offered special rates. We welcome anyone interested in veterinary ophthalmology to attend either the full conference or the General Practitioner’s course alone.
Baltimore has a lot to offer historically and is located centrally to allow easy access to Washington DC and many other historic districts. Our host hotel, Marriott Waterfront, is located in Harbor East. This area of town is the trendy extension to Baltimore's Inner Harbor. Harbor East is Baltimore's upscale and tourist-friendly neighborhood and is located right before Little Italy and neighbors Fells Point. The area offers an array of fine dining options, a mix of locally owned boutiques and well known storefronts, and a variety of fun attractions like the National Aquarium. Harbor East is easy to navigate and pedestrian-friendly with plenty of sidewalks and a waterfront promenade perfect for biking, running, walking, or simply sight-seeing.
