Brief overview of association history, goals, and initiatives

Our purposes and strategies.

We would like to improve the quality of veterinary medicine for small animals in Saint-Petersburg and Russia. Help create a professional base for education that will bring Russia closer to international standards as time passes.  We are interested to share information on the latest achievements in veterinary science.

St. Petersburg Veterinary Society was founded in February 2008. We had many reasons for establishing Saint-Petersburg Veterinary Society:

Back, in 2008 when we started, there was a complete absence of professional veterinary conferences held in our area. As well, there was a real need for up to date information about the latest trends and new technologies in veterinary science. At the end of 2007 we came up with the idea of SPVS. The Idea finally came together in 2008.

In 2008 we did not plan to expand outside Saint-Petersburg region. At that time we had no idea of such positive results. Our work has paid off with veterinarians from all around Russia including Moscow attending our conferences. We have Russian speaking specialists coming from other countries as well: Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Belarus, Ukraine and  Kazahstan.

2011. SPVS started to prepare to ask WSAVA to give SPVS membership. This has been one of our long term goals. 13.10.2011 SPVS has become a member of WSAVA.

Results of the work from 2008 to 2015 showed: currently SPVS is the fastest growing nonprofit Veterinary organization in Russia. The SPVS is growing by the average over 10-25% per year.
