Four new members are hoping to join our global veterinary community during World Congress, bringing our global membership to 105 associations and more than 200,000 individual veterinarians! The associations are:

Meet the Zimbabwe Veterinary Association

Dr Helene Donohoe, Secretary, says: “We are a small association of around 40 members with sub-committees focussing on small animals, wildlife, large animals and animal welfare. We arrange eight CE sessions every year and already benefit from WSAVA CE. We hold a congress every second year and are currently arranging for all veterinary students and veterinarians to receive online access to the Zimbabwe Veterinary Journal.

“Once we are an Associate member, we hope to send our Member Representative to WSAVA Congress each year to gain the latest knowledge of small animal surgery and medicine. They will then present papers at ZVA Congress and at our CE evenings to pass the knowledge on. We also hope to form relationships with other veterinarians from around the world which we hope will help to broaden our access to veterinary information.

“Finally, we hope to bring Zimbabwe closer to the rest of the veterinary world and to educate our colleagues about the challenges that we as veterinarians and that the animals of Zimbabwe face in the light of our challenging political situation.”
