Campaigning to secure access to ketamine

Thank you to all WSAVA members who are supporting our Global Pain Council's efforts to secure ketamine's position as essential medicine.  The most recent landmark is the outcome of the UN Commission of Narcotic Drugs (CND) meetings, held during March in Vienna.

The issue of whether ketamine should fall under international scheduling did not make it on to the agenda thanks to the recent reaffirmation by the WHO Expert Committee on Drug Dependence (ECDD) that it is an essential medicine and reinforced by the lobbying campaign. Thank you for your support! However, China has made clear it that its view that ketamine should be internationally scheduled is unchanged and says it will press for this again at a future meeting.  This means we must continue to campaign to provide a global perspective on ketamine's  importance in veterinary medicine and to unite the voices of those who support our view.  This is a battle our patients can't afford us to lose. Please help us secure the future of ketamine!  Find out more about our campaign here:
