REPORT TO WSAVA ASSEMBLY 2011

WSAVA VACCINATION GUIDELINES GROUP

The third phase of the Vaccination Guidelines Group (VGG), with a focus on vaccination issues in the Asian countries, was scheduled to commence in June 2011. The VGG membership for Phase III comprises:

The planned first meeting of the group was to be in Tokyo and Sapporo, Japan. Due to the tragedy of the Tsunami earlier this year it was decided to postpone this meeting until June 2012. The second meeting of the group is currently being planned for India in September 2012, with the final meeting in China to be scheduled during 2013.

During 2011, members of the VGG have continued to be active in promoting the 2010 guidelines, responding to questions that have arisen and delivering continuing education in vaccinology to veterinarians. Discussions have been held in order to facilitate translation of the 2010 guidelines with access via the WSAVA website. Assembly members are encouraged to consider commissioning a translation of the guidelines in their local language.
