Report 2010 -2011

The board of the association (3 officers) met on 7 occasions face-to-face or by Skype during 2010 in addition to frequent e-mail discussions. The general assembly for all members was held in March. Lots of information is shared with the members via the association's website and mailing list.

Main activities:
1.Continuing education:
a) ESAVA spring seminar “Reproduction of Dogs and Cats” (dr. Alain Fontbonne), 48 participants.
b) WSAVA CE event for 3 Baltic states „Behavioural medicine course“ (dr. Kersti Seksel), 64 participants.
c) ESAVA organized CE program for CA vets during our national veterinary conference. Speakers were local.
d) CE for nurses: “Basic reproduction” and “Feeding of pregnant and lactating bitches”, 13 participants and „Basics of diagnostic imaging (X-ray)“
e) Program for nurses in Veterinary Conference was organized and supported by ESAVA. The subject was “Emergency”, by Vilhelmiina Huuskonen, 28 participants.

2. Fun: Summer camp together with Estonian Veterinary Association, University of Life Sciences' Vet. Faculty and National Veterinary Laboratory.
3.Work of the association during 2010 has been concentrated on:
a) Finalizing and launching a new advanced website www.loomaarst.ee combining a web portal for pet owners and vets/nurses, a forum for vets and a wikipedia-like discussion webpage
b) Continuous work with ID register of pets, new software and design was main activity this year (www.lemmikloomaregister.ee, member of EuroPetNet)
c) Estonian speaker did give a lecture in Ukraine
d) Actively participating in workgroup developing and finalizing occupational standards and job description for vet nurses. Next workgroup has also started to establish the syllabus for training vet nurses
e) Two scholarships were given – lecturer's scholarship for the best lecture and scholarship for studying abroad
f) Launch of Blue Dog Parent Guide and CD

4. Plans for 2011:
a) Continuing management and development of the pet register Lemmikloomaregister
b) Improving work on the new website
c) Continuing public promotion of Blue Dog Parent Guide and CD
d) Continuing with CE lectures in former Soviet Union countries, there is at least one lecture agreed in Russia
e) Continuing the nurses' education project. ESAVA participates actively in establishing syllabus, finding teachers and supporting this project in many ways
f) Two scholarships will be given: lecturer's scholarship for the best lecture and scholarship for studying abroad.

2. «Hygiene in practice“ within Estonian Veterinary Conference for vets and nurses
3. CE program for vet. nurses within the annual Estonian Veterinary Conference
