WSAVA NEWS now available in Chinese

With the generous support of the Beijing Small Animal Veterinary Association and the translation skills of Jason Shi, Associate Director of the Veterinary Teaching Hospital and Clinical Science Department, China Agricultural University, WSAVA will be expanding its offering of the monthly news in English, Spanish, and Italian to include Chinese. This welcome enhancement to the dissemination of information to WSAVA members is available in pdf format and accessible via the hyperlink located on the left hand column of the WSAVA Homepage under Association News.

Beijing Small Animal Veterinary Association 2010 Report

BJSAVA has been formally founded since May 2008. The total number of the board is 69 people. There are 13 people who are principal people in charge of the association.

The main work and the activities of the BJSAVA which are as follows:
1. Regularly carry out Continuing Education
Every month there is a continuing education provided for veterinarians. We invite professors both from our country and other countries to give the lectures. And BJSAVA record credit for every trainee. The lecture topics are settled at the end of last year. We mainly focus on the basic knowledge and also ask suggestions from our trainees.

2. In Sep.15th-17th 2010 we hold the sixth congress of Beijing small animal veterinary association. Both provide Training and exhibition for the veterinarians. The numbers of attendees were more than one thousand. The exhibiters were about 70 companies or firms both from china and other countries. There were about 50 lecturers invited from China, America, Italia, Australia and China Taiwan.

3. Project of stray cat sterilization operation in Beijing
In 2010 there are 103 animal hospitals joined in this project. In this whole year there are 11769 stray cats have been performed sterilization operation. BJSAVA also cooperated with IFAW to performe sterilization for dogs in the suburbs. And all these activities are public benefit activities. Free of charge.

4. BJSAVA also work closely with government department
BJSAVA collects the suggestions from the members of our association and we provide the reflection to government departments which allowed the government to understand the demand of veterinarians. In 2010 we provide three official documents to Beijing municipal bureau of agriculture and also get the respondence.

5. Responsible for the work of Beijing Volunteer Sub-brigade for Animal Epidemic Emergency Response.
Authorized by Beijing municipal bureau of agriculture, BJSAVA is responsible to seek volunteers for this team and hold training regularly.


BJSAVA 2010 Congress Highlights

The 2010 BJSAVA(Beijing Small Animal Veterinary Association) Congress was successfully held in China International Science & Technology Convention Center between September 15-17,2010 in Beijing, which is the 6th congress that was held in Beijing every year since 2005.The purpose of this meeting was to establish a platform for veterinarians from the whole country-including Taiwan-exchanging their experiences and skill, and promoting corporation between veterinarians and their partners, which may accelerate the development of this industry.

The registered number was over 1200, but the actually number was more than 1800,that is, over 1800 veterinarians attended this congress. Meanwhile, more than 70 companies exhibited their productions during the congress. 50 speakers from not only the mainland of China, but also from USA, Australian, Italian and Taiwan, China, provided 62 lectures. The scientific program covered Chinese Traditional Medicine, surgery and internal medicine, animal behavior, dermatogic disease, feline medicine, ophthalmology, exotic and emotional management.

Not only the scientific program provided a good opportunity for participators learning lots of practice experience and skill, but also the evening gala provided them a chance to meet old friends and make new ones. It was an unforgettable evening for participators since every one could enjoy the delicious food and the performance. If you were the lucky one, you might get a gift as well. The BJSAVA Awards were also presented during the party.

Officers from Beijing Agriculture Administration and Beijing Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Technologic Service Center, representatives from WSAVA, Korea and Taiwan also attended this congress and made addresses.

The WSAVA CE was also held in Beijing during the Congress, which was provided by Drs. Vanessa Barrs and Julia Beatty from Sydney, Australia. The topics of their lectures were feline medicine.

2014 FASAVA Congress in Beijing
