| WSAVA WALTHAM International Award for Scientific Achievement Dr. Dale E. Bj�rling is currently Professor and Chair of the Department of Surgical Sciences at the University of Wisconsin, School of Veterinary Medicine and he also holds an appointment as an Affiliate Professor at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine, Department of Surgery, Division of Urology. He has published over 125 articles in refereed journals and contributed 33 chapters to 10 veterinary texts. His research focuses on diseases of the urinary tract and has been funded by several agencies. He is Pat President of the Wisconsin Veterinary Medical Association and he currently serves on the Board of Regents of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons. He was a member of the committee that wrote and administered the first three examinations of the European College of Veterinary Surgeons. _________________________ This award is based on outstanding contributions by a veterinarian who has had a significant impact on the advancement of knowledge concerning the cause, detection, cure and/or control of disorders of companion animals. |

| __________________________________________________ WSAVA WALTHAM International Award for Service to the Profession Dr. Colin F. Burrows is a Professor of Medicine and Chair of the Department of Small Animal Clinical Sciences at the University of Florida, College of Veterinary Medicine. A board-certified veterinary internist, Dr. Burrows� specialty is the study of canine and feline gastrointestinal, hepatic, and pancreatic disease. He also has had a key interest in canine and feline nutrition. His research has focused on canine gastrointestinal motility in health and disease, and on the relationship between diet and gastrointestinal disease. In 1992 he was honoured for his international contributions to this field by receiving the Woodrow Award from the British Small Animal Veterinary Association and in 1996 he received the World Small Animal Veterinary Association�s Award for Scientific Achievement. Dr. Burrows has presented lectures in more than 50 countries and in 2000 received the Royal Canin Award from the American Animal Hospital Association for his contributions to international veterinary medicine. Dr. Burrows has been Program Coordinator of the North American Veterinary Conference since 1984 and currently serves as its Executive Director. _________________________ The Award is given to a person who has given exemplary service in fostering and enhancing the exchange of scientific and cultural ideas throughout the veterinary small animal world.

| __________________________________________________ WSAVA Iams Saki Patsaama Award Dr. Darryl L. Millis is Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at the University of Tennessee, College of Veterinary Medicine, where he serves as Chief of Surgery. Dr. Millis is co-editor of the Textbook of Small Animal Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation: Essential Facts of Physiotherapy in Dogs and Cats and Small Animal Physical Rehabilitation:Veterinary Clinics of North America-Small Animal Practice. He is also primary faculty member of the University of Tennessee Certificate Program in Canine Rehabilitation, which received the Outstanding Non-Credit Program Award from the Association for Continuing Higher Education. Dr. Millis has received the Charles and Julia Wharton Distinguished Professor Award and the Chancellor�s Award for Professional Promise in Research and Creative Achievement form the University of Tennessee, and the Distinguished Postdoctoral Veterinary Alumnus Award from Michigan State University. His primary areas of research interest include modulation of fracture healing with growth factors, osteoarthritis, and physical rehabilitation. Dr. Millis has delivered over 250 presentations at state, national, and international meetings, and has authored over 34 refereed publications, 28 textbook chapters, and 75 abstracts/proceedings. _________________________ This award is presented to a clinical researcher for excellence in the field of canine and feline orthopedic medicine and surgery.

| __________________________________________________ WSAVA Hills Excellence in Veterinary Healthcare Award
Dr. Eric Teske is a faculty member of the Department of Clinical Science, Companion Animals, Utrecht University where he is currently professor in Oncology. His areas of expertise include clinical oncology, epidemiology, and oncology; his focus of attention is canine non-Hodgkin lymphoma and prostatic carcinoma. He has written more than 75 publications in refereed journals, 10 book chapters, and more than 120 other publications. He has presented over 100 times at international congresses. Dr. Teske was the first President of the European College of Veterinary Internal Medicine, has been President of the European Board of Veterinary Specialization, and continues in his position as President of the Dutch Board of Veterinary Specialization. He is double-boarded in ECVIM-CA in internal medicine and in clinical oncology. _________________________ This award recognizes the outstanding work of veterinarians in promoting companion animal healthcare and the family pet/veterinary bond through a special sensitivity to both clients and patients using leading edge clinical nutrition and advanced medical and surgery techniques.
